Located within the World Heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforests of Australia, the Purling Brook Falls Circuit in Springbrook National Park is one of the Gold Coast Hinterland’s most iconic walking trails. This popular circuit features dramatic lookouts, cascading waterfalls, and lush rainforest, attracting high volumes of visitors year-round. Following the severe impacts of Tropical Cyclone Debbie, the trail suffered significant damage from flooding, debris, and landslips, prompting urgent restoration works.

Trailworx Australia was engaged to restore the Purling Brook Falls Circuit to a Class 3 walking standard. With our extensive experience in trail rehabilitation, we responded quickly and effectively to the complex challenges of the site. The work involved detailed clean-up operations and the installation of durable infrastructure to protect against future weather impacts. Our team completed rock armouring with paving and random step placements, reinstated gravel surfacing, added water bars for drainage, and constructed large retaining walls to stabilise eroded sections. Our team also benched new sections of trail, cleared landslips, and implemented erosion control measures such as soil trenches and step supports. Working in a sensitive natural environment required a careful and low-impact approach, and our team delivered the project with a strong focus on environmental sustainability and long-term durability.
