Boodjamulla

Boodjamulla Stage 1 involved the restoration of hiking trail access within Lawn Hill National Park following significant flood damage, delivered through flood relief funding. Trailworx Australia was engaged to repair and upgrade damaged trail infrastructure while maintaining the park’s natural and cultural values.

Works focused on improving long-term trail resilience and visitor safety, including vegetation clearing, updating trail specifications to current grading standards, and constructing extensive rock armouring and rock steps to stabilise flood-impacted sections. Design and reconstruction were informed by a prior trail audit, ensuring all interventions met best-practice sustainability and safety requirements.

The project was delivered in a culturally and environmentally sensitive setting, with close collaboration with Traditional Owners throughout all ground disturbance activities. Given the remote location, Trailworx implemented a fully self-contained solar camp and robust safety and communication systems, including satellite phones and PLBs. ESRI technology was used to track progress and provide transparent reporting to the client.

The completed works have successfully restored safe, sustainable trail access, enhancing the visitor experience while protecting the landscape from future flood events.
